by Michael Durand. January 25, 2009.
In the fall of 2008, I took over a little patch of sandy dirt in my next door neighbor's front yard and planted the seeds that Tracy and Owen gave out at their wedding, in honor of Barack Obama.

Inspired by the kids drawing on the stones at KCove,
I started drawing peace signs and hearts and designs on beach rocks.
The stones are mostly from Ocean Beach where the Pacific Ocean meets San Francisco.
Many are from nearby Baker Beach, below.
The succulents are from my old garden in Pasadena
The blue square in the middle is from Hans in Pasadena. Thanks!
Peace signs are easy to draw.
The act of drawing a symbol of peace is, in and of itself, a very simple
and very spiritually soothing thing to do. I recommend it.
If you are so inspired and wish to contribute a peace stone, or a heart, or something beautiful,
please email me and I'll tell you where to send your artwork to add to the garden.
(Wouldn't it be cool to get contributions from peaceful people around the world?)
(The rock should say: "Keep on Barackin' in the Free World.")
Count me as one of the hundreds of millions - if not billions - of people
AROUND THE WORLD who are thrilled with the change of direction
signaled by the election of President Barack Obama.
