Michael Durand started durand productions in 1995 after 17 years as a corporate meeting planner. Michael has served in a variety of support and leadership roles in the production of hundreds of major events for clients including Chevron, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Catholic Healthcare West, Shaklee, Apple, Oracle and many others. Michael Durand's time management and organizational skills allowed him to explore his artistic side as a producer, director, writer, musician, photographer, videographer, video editor and musician for hundreds of video and television productions. Given the ability to play music "by ear", Michael has played piano halfway around the world for over 30 years. He performs background music at special events and teaches students his unique method of playing the piano that so many have found to be the easy and fun. Today, durand productions is re-tooling this website. Michael Durand moved from Pasadena back to San Francisco in 2007. He has been working full-time as an event producer for Kaiser Permanente. Michael's plans are to create new opportunities to share his knowledge, experience and talents with those who are working to make the world more beautiful. More updates coming day by day. Many pages on this site will be outdated. As of 9/9/8 we're just getting started with the re-design. Stay tuned and visit us again. Thanks! Craftsman video is no longer in business.
When event management projects are completed, Michael works at what he loves most: taking pictures, making music and telling stories. From his high school and college days with student newspapers and yearbooks to this very day, Michael Durand has loved photography, videography, music, writing and production. (Spring, 2006): durand productions purchased a new single lens reflex digital camera - Canon 20D. The camera is very crisp and responsive and the eight megapixel photos are clear and vibrant. At the turn of the 21st century Michael bought digital video cameras (3-chip Sony VX2000), microphones, a versatile lighting kit: everything needed for any small- to medium-sized video production. Michael has spent over five years on his craftsmanship as a digital video editor (Final Cut Pro) and has created dozens of projects for a variety of clients in Pasadena, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The County of Los Angeles Department of Health Services chose durand productions to produce a series of safety videos to teach parents of young children how to keep their children safe in traffic situations. Two full-length instructional videos (a 15-minute English version and a 20-minute Spanish version) plus two (English and Spanish) 30-second Public Service Announcements were made available to public schools throughout Los Angeles County (population: 10 million). For video presentations, photography and multimedia projects - durand productions offers an affordable and creative opportunity to tell your story and to showcase your business, non-profit group, organization, special event or personal history. Since 1995, Michael Durand has produced, directed, videotaped, edited, and has taken on a variety of roles in hundreds of video and television productions. Michael Durand is the creator and Executive Producer of "All the World's a Stage," Pasadena's Television of Arts and Culture on Charter cable channel 56 in Pasadena and Altadena, and on the web at www.pasadena56.tv. Over 60 half-hour episodes highlight the best of Pasadena and surrounding communities in the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California. Music Performance and Instruction Given the gift of being able to play music "by ear," Michael can listen to a song on the radio and be able to play the song almost immediately on the piano and guitar. Michael has played background piano at hundreds of special events, cocktail parties, wedding receptions, parties, luncheons and banquets. He combines his interpretation of rock and pop songs with his own compositions to enrich any atmosphere with pleasant melodies. Michael also teaches music. If you ever hoped to find a patient, flexible, tolerant, and inspiring music teacher, ask Michael Durand for one free fifteen minute lesson and see if your dream of playing the piano or guitar may actually come true.
